Milbertshofen: Seven years in prison for fatal stabbings at Korbinianplatz – Munich

The 3rd Youth Chamber of the Munich I Regional Court spent a full 24 days dealing with a deadly argument between young men in Milbertshofen and has now handed down its verdict: The 17-year-old defendant R. was sentenced to seven years in a youth prison for manslaughter and participation in a fight. The court found it proven that the minor had killed an 18-year-old with a knife during a gang fight in March last year.

There was a clash between two groups of young men in a green area on Korbinianplatz. Including the now convicted man on one side and the victim on the other. The reason: According to the court, a member of one group is said to have betrayed members of the other group to the police. They wanted to clarify that at the time.

According to the verdict, an argument broke out and the 18-year-old P., who was later killed, finally pulled out a folding knife and seriously injured one of the defendant’s group by cutting him in the stomach. Participants from the defendant’s group then attacked P. and knocked the knife out of his hand. According to the verdict, the defendant took it and stabbed the now unarmed 18-year-old three times, who was already lying on the ground at least when he was stabbed in the heart.

The defendant himself had denied the fatal stabs in the upper body and blamed another person involved. But the crime was filmed on a cell phone by an uninvolved witness. The recordings matched the image that emerged from numerous witness statements during the trial. The court saw “massive educational deficiencies and harmful tendencies” in the defendant. The young person was guided by false ideas of honor. For this reason and because of the seriousness of the guilt, a youth sentence is essential. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
