Turkey has condemned the deaths of many people in Gaza city during aid distribution and blamed Israel. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the Israeli armed forces had committed another crime against humanity. In the statement, the ministry accused Israel of using hunger as a weapon of war in the Gaza Strip. The incident, which killed more than 100 people, is proof that Israel wants to destroy the Palestinian population.

After dozens of people died in the city of Gaza while delivering food, France is pressing for clarification. “We will demand explanations and there must be an independent investigation to determine what happened,” French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné said on France Inter radio. France must speak openly when “atrocities occur in Gaza.”

China has expressed outrage over the deaths of many people in the city of Gaza as food aid arrives. “China is shocked by this incident and strongly condemns it,” said Chinese Foreign Office spokeswoman Mao Ning. “We express our sadness for the victims and our condolences for those injured.”

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell expressed shock at the deadly disaster when an aid convoy arrived in the Gaza Strip. “I am horrified by the news of another bloodbath among the civilian population in Gaza, who are desperately waiting for humanitarian aid,” wrote Borrell on the X platform. These deaths are “completely unacceptable.” Withholding food aid from people is a serious violation of international humanitarian law. Borrell did not explicitly assign blame in the article.

Leaders from three dozen newsrooms around the world expressed solidarity with journalists in the Gaza Strip in an open letter. The letter, initiated by the Committee to Protect Journalists, called for security and freedom for reporters in the war zone.

“We felt it was important to show that the international journalism community stands in solidarity with our Palestinian colleagues,” said Jodie Ginsberg, the committee’s executive director. “Attacks on journalists are also attacks on the truth,” the letter said.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), at least 94 journalists and media workers have been killed, including 89 Palestinians, since the war between Israel and the militant Islamist Hamas began almost five months ago.

French President Emanuel Macron is calling for an immediate ceasefire. “I am deeply outraged by the images from the Gaza Strip, where civilians were attacked by Israeli soldiers. I condemn these shootings in the strongest terms and call for truth, justice and compliance with international law,” Macron wrote in a post on the X platform.

The US military says it shot down six mobile anti-ship missiles and a drone over the Red Sea. US Central Command reported via Platform X that there was an imminent threat to merchant ships and US Navy ships in the region.
