Microsoft Powertoys: Version 0.80.1 corrects annoying errors

Microsoft’s developers have put together Powertoys 0.80.1 and are distributing the updated version. Only around a week after the release of version 0.80 of the Powertoys, they corrected the most frequently occurring errors based on feedback from users.

Loud Release notes for the power toys This is therefore an important update that improves the stability of the tool collection. Not only Powertoys, but also numerous other tools crashed when started – because .Net version 8.0.3 had problems with (significantly) older CPUs. An update to .Net 8.0.4 corrects the error.

The keyboard manager editor also crashed if Visual C++ redistributables were not installed. The text extractor settings page did not open when the button was clicked directly in the tool overlay. The programmers also corrected errors that occurred when the WiX installer could not access the folders into which the DSC module should be installed – for example because the “My Documents” folder is on a network drive.

You can see whether the current version is already running in the “General” tab under “Version and Updates”. The “Check for updates” button starts the search, if necessary an available update is also displayed and the button is then called “Install now”.

In last week’s version of Powertoys 0.80, the programmers focused on stability and improvements to details. The most obvious was a context menu entry in the system tray icon, which opens quick access to some functions in the tool collection.
