“I’m grateful to you”: Mick Schumacher finds emotional words for his father

With a private photo from earlier times, Mick Schumacher congratulated his father Michael on Instagram on his birthday. He chose emotional words for it.
It is an unusually private snapshot that Mick Schumacher made public on his Instagram profile: You can see him as a little boy, laughing and cuddling in the arm of his father Michael Schumacher. He is wearing a racing suit, the photo shows father and son very heartily and happy. Schumacher posted it on January 3rd on the occasion of his father’s 53rd birthday.
In English he first congratulated his father with a “Happy Birthday, Dad” and then found very emotional words. “Days like this one were important for my growing passion for motorsport and they influence me to this day. I am grateful to you for all the experiences you made possible and I look forward to new ones in the future,” wrote the 22nd -Year-olds.
Mick Schumacher wants to follow in his father’s footsteps
His father Michael Schumacher has not been seen in public since December 29, 2013. He had an accident that day while skiing in the French Alps, suffered severe head injuries despite a helmet – and has since lived in a shielded area and under the care of the family on an estate in Gland on Lake Geneva. The family has not disclosed any details about the state of health since then, and the topic was only vaguely outlined in the Netflix documentary, which appeared last year. Michael was there, just different, said his wife Corinna in tears. And Mick Schumacher expressed himself sad that he could no longer talk to his father about Formula 1 as he used to. “I would give up anything just for that,” he said.
Mick Schumacher has been purposefully pursuing his career in motorsport for years – always following in the footsteps of his famous father. It has just been announced that he will be a Ferrari substitute driver after his first year in Formula 1. That is of course still a long way from the seven world championship titles that Michael Schumacher can boast. But Mick is considered ambitious and capable of learning – two qualities that also brought Michael Schumacher far.
