Michelrieth: “Basis” party in federal election before SPD and CSU – Bavaria

They no longer exist, the fixed voter ties. And should proof of this still be required, a look into the secluded Michelrieth would be enough, a village on the edge of the Spessart, which up to now has mainly been on the screen because of a hearty inn. In the 2017 federal election, a representative of the left got 26.2 percent of the first votes. Of course, the second vote result of the “V party” was even more impressive, with 18.2 percent the political vegans came in as the third strongest force, just behind the CSU and SPD.

Well, these are such phenomena of the moment in Lower Franconia, one might object. Four years later, however, the Michelriethers have now proven that flexibility is not just a leadership rhetoric for them. The 376 Michelriether who are entitled to vote are an example of this. Leftists and vegans are no longer so popular, but the star of the party “Die Basis” rose there on Sunday. At least in the reading of the self-proclaimed grassroots democrats. The CSU and SPD shared second place in Michelrieth, both came to 18.25 percent. But the winner is: the “base” – with a whopping 24.09 percent.

As in Michelrieth, a local “grassroots” board member says “all of Germany should have voted”. As you know, it doesn’t. And yet you would of course now wish for the people from the Wahlen research group to show the voter hikes in Michelrieth between vegans and Basalen in arrow diagrams and get to the bottom of the matter properly. But they don’t. And so one is thrown back here on Michelrieth experts.

They, in turn, tell you that there is a core of people in this village who describe the less well-meaning as notorious sectarians, others as a registered religious community, who bring their own food to the market and apparently also idiosyncratic ideas into the urn. There is such a “village bubble” says someone who has to conduct field studies in Michelrieth for professional reasons. And even the man from the “grassroots” oracles about possible overlaps between the religious food producers and his party.

Anyway. The “base” now wants to put up posters of thanks in the village. So that the “Team Todenhöfer” does not clear away in Michelrieth in four years.
