Michelle Obama is coming to Munich for “Bits & Pretzels” – Munich

The former First Lady of the USA, Michelle Obama, is coming to Munich in the fall. She is scheduled to appear at the “Bits & Pretzels” start-up festival at the end of September, as the organizers announced on Monday. In a way, she follows in her husband’s footsteps. Former US President Barack Obama came to the Bavarian capital in 2019 for the opening of the start-up fair.

The 59-year-old will “give insights into her career through determination, community and personal conviction,” said “Bits & Pretzels”. She will “highlight the importance of inclusion and diversity” and want to “encourage her listeners to embrace their unique strengths and overcome self-doubt”.

Obama was not only the first lady of the United States for eight years until 2017, she is also an entrepreneur, as the founders of “Bits & Pretzels” emphasized. For example, she and her husband founded the production company Higher Ground.

According to their own statements, the organizers ask every year who the audience would like to have as a speaker at “Bits & Pretzels,” as the founders Andy Bruckschlögl, Bernd Storm van’s Gravesande and Felix Haas said. “And Michelle Obama tops this list year after year.”

The start-up festival will take place this year from September 24th to 26th in Munich. The Oktoberfest is also taking place there at the same time. They did not say whether the organizers wanted to go to the Oktoberfest with their famous guest. However, Barack Obama decided not to visit there in 2019. In addition to the ex-US President, the founders’ festival has repeatedly brought prominent figures to Munich as speakers in recent years, including Virgin founder Richard Branson, US actors Kevin Spacey and Jessica Alba, Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg and the former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
