Michelin Guide 2022: discover the new starred restaurants this year, live

The famous Michelin Red Guide, awards this Tuesday, March 22 its stars to Cognac, in Charente. 200 chefs are present on site for an unprecedented event.

The famous Guide Michelin unveils this Tuesday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m., in Cognac, its new list of starred restaurants. A first for the gastronomic ceremony which since the launch of the guide had never left Paris. For the occasion, this “great gastronomic celebration” required nearly 15 months of preparation. 200 chefs will be present on site, some as honorary members with their three stars, this is the case of chef Gilles Goujon, in Fontjoncouse in the Aude.

Others have responded to the guide’s special invitation, such as the Pourcels brothers in Montpellier, who are waiting for “good news”. Maybe a first star for the new Jardin des Sens, or even two, who knows… The ceremony can be followed live below.

In France, no less than 30 establishments can boast of owning three stars. The prize goes to the Île-de-France region with 10 restaurants, followed by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes with its 8 exceptional tables and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur which finally has five three stars. In Occitania, alone The Inn of the Old Well of Gilles Goujon, in Fontjoncouse in the Aude, is one of the few chosen ones. In total, France will have 638 starred tables in 2021, an undisputed world record.

Occitania, land of talent

Number of 53 in the Occitanie region the latter could well lengthen with the installation of new establishments last year. The Inn of the Old Well of Will Gilles Goujon, in Fontjoncouse in the Aude, remain the only restaurant in the region to have three stars in the guide or will other good addresses steal the show?

Last year, Montpellier and Nimes had won the 2021 guide by being the only cities in the entire region to receive new starred establishments: Leclere, Le Pastis, Reflet d’Obione for the first and Duende for the Gardoise capital. In total, the former Languedoc-Roussillon, out of its 28 starred addresses, only has one 3-star: L’Auberge du Vieux Puits in Fontjoncouse and three 2-stars: La Table de Franck Putelat, in Carcassonne; The Saint-Crescent House, in Narbonne; and Alexandre, in Garons (Gard).
