Michaël Youn, Larusso, the L5s… The Kermesse takes the stars of the 2000s to festivals and soon on tour

Fatal Bazooka, the L5, Billy Crawford, Nâdiya on the same set… After the success of their premiere, on July 8, 2022 in Nice, the organizers of La Kermesse, specialists in musical time travel, atmosphere hit-machine, will put the cover back in festival mode this summer. With more parties, even more millennial stars and even a second and third drop-off point. To the three dates scheduled at the Théâtre de Verdure, on the Promenade des Anglais (July 5, 6 and 7), already 75% full, were already added those scheduled for August 4, 5 and 6 at La Seyne-sur-Mer “where 90% of the tickets have already been sold”, “hallucinates” the Toulonnais Pierre Abbate, alongside the Niçois Jordan Galtier. And that’s not all. First surprise unveiled at 20 minutes : the event will also be exported to Toulouse with three other evenings, on August 17, 18 and 19, at the Poney-Club at Blagnac airport. “To meet demand,” they explain. Nearly 33,000 spectators are expected in total.

The 2000s are successful. Millennials love it. If Larusso sang You will forget me, they haven’t forgotten anything and they want more. Like a comforter. So much so that the two Azuriens, organizers of the event, will go further. Far even further. “A tour of sixteen Zeniths throughout France is scheduled for the first five months of 2024. And we have even started to organize a second for 2025”, they also announce exclusively to 20 minutes.

In line with Stars 80?

Back to basic 2000 had already tried the revival experience with several series of concerts from 2018. The adventure ended prematurely, last October, following to disappointments. But with a still very strong demand from the public. The Kermesse On tour will therefore take over. With the phenomenal success of Stars 80 (which has been scouring French cinemas since 2013) in the line of sight? Why not. “But we hadn’t thought of a tour at all when we launched the first evening last year. We were just looking to offer a different, good-natured event. I recognize that we had probably not really captured the power of these artists. And memories that they left to a lot of thirty-somethings, ”says Pierre Abbate, 32 years old and therefore right on target.

Despite his 25 years, his sidekick has not escaped these timeless playlists either. “Today, when you are in the evening, in the middle of current songs, if you play an L5 title, everyone loves it and starts singing and dancing, breathes Jordan Galtier, at the head of Chafadou Productions with his partner. There is a real nostalgia for that time. That of a certain good humor that everyone wants to find again. »

“People need this homecoming”

And the stars of the time, too, want more. Those who were there in 2022 have resigned for this year. Fatal Bazooka, Michaël Youn in civilian life, in the lead. The group Tragedy (but yes, you know: “Do you hear me? [hey oh] Do you feel me? [hey oh] ) also said “banco” again. And they “will obviously” be on the tour if they are asked to, enthuses Bony Boy, half of the RNB star duo. “It’s crazy what happens with the 2000s. We weren’t really aware of it but we all left a mark that really marked. We see it during our visits to the club, he explains to 20 minutes. I really feel that people need this back to basics. Today, all music looks a bit alike. And streaming has turned everything upside down: one piece drives out another. »

Last summer, during the La Kermesse evening, in Nice – Chafadou productions

The tour schedule has not yet filtered. “We will only reveal it during the month of July”, warns Pierre Abatte. Some artists of the time may be more difficult to convince than others. After an often radical life change. For example, to manage to book the Spanish sisters of Las Ketchup (Aserejé, The Ketchup Song and its chorea with small onions) this summer, “it took several months”, explains Jordan Galtier. “They changed jobs. There is one who has become a childcare worker, he also specifies. It takes a bit of organization. »

In any case, the two partners have made enough contacts to start their Kermesse on all the roads of France “for several years” and “while varying the programming”, they assure in chorus. They also hope to be able to include artists with more current pieces “who are in this spirit, like Sébastien Patoche [Cartman] and Fucking Fred [Jonathan Cohen] “. The call is launched.
