Michael Schumacher: This is how manager Willi Weber remembers him

For more than 20 years, Willi Weber was the manager of the makers behind Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher and engineered deals worth millions. Even at the age of 80, Schumacher’s sponsor is still very busy.

Interview: Sabine Hoffmann

Sunglasses, T-shirts, scarves and jackets: Mr. Weber, you’ve come up with many ideas for marketing Michael Schumacher. Which idea was definitely too crazy?
The Schumi salami. There were at the race track. When people had consumed some beer, they asked for something tangible. But the salami was too thin and too small for that, in the end it was a Bifi copy. After one season I took them off the market. Otherwise, as long as “Schumi” was on it, his signature and his likeness, everything was for sale.
