Filming will begin in January, theatrical release in spring 2025: The film about the life of Michael Jackson is taking shape.
The long-awaited biographical film about Michael Jackson (1958-2009) has a release date. The work with the simple title “Michael” is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on April 18, 2025. This reported US media such as “Deadline”, citing the rental companies Lionsgate and Universal.
There is also news about the start of filming on the biopic, which was first announced at the beginning of 2022. Lionsgate announced that production on “Michael” will begin on January 22, 2024.
Michael Jackson’s nephew embodies the King of Pop
“Michael” is directed by Antoine Fuqua (58, “Training Day”, “The Equalizer”). The makers of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, the film biography about Queen and their frontman Freddie Mercury (1946-1991), are responsible as producers. Michael Jackson’s family is also involved.
The producers pulled off a real casting coup when it came to casting the title role. The King of Pop is embodied by his nephew Jaafar Jackson (27). According to Fuqua, Jermaine Jackson’s son, 69, resembles his famous uncle “uncannily.” “He sounds like him, dances like him, sings like him,” the director once told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans around the world, see you soon,” Jaafar Jackson wrote on Instagram after his involvement was announced.
