Steven Soderbergh is filming a new thriller: The project’s stars reportedly include Michael Fassbender and an Oscar winner.

Steven Soderbergh (61) is said to have found the stars of his new project: As the US industry portal “The Hollywood Reporter” reports, Cate Blanchett (54) and Michael Fassbender (46) could allegedly take on the main roles in the spy thriller “Black Bag”. Soderbergh will direct again from a script by David Keopp. Not much is known about the planned film, but it is said to be set in Great Britain. The plan is apparently to shoot in London in May, but there are no contracts yet.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Steven Soderbergh seems to be relying on people he has worked with before for the project. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett appeared in his 2006 film “The Good German – In the Ruins of Berlin” and in “Ocean’s 8”. He produced the 2018 film. Michael Fassbender, meanwhile, appeared in Soderbergh’s “Haywire,” which came out in 2011.

Short break for Michael Fassbender

The 46-year-old returned last year with David Fincher’s (61) film “The Killer”. Before his appearance as a nameless contract killer in it, Michael Fassbender took a break from acting. The reason: his “obsession” with car racing, as he revealed.

As a guest on the British “Graham Norton Show” in November, the Hollywood star described his enthusiasm for car racing. “It’s an obsession and it feels so right,” Michael Fassbender said at the time, according to the Daily Mail newspaper. For him, the races are “not just about the speed, it’s about getting to a point where you don’t think about anything else.” In addition to his acting return in “The Killer”, Fassbender can also be seen in the comedy “Next Goal Wins” by Oscar winner Taika Waititi (48).
