Meyer-Gluche resigns, delegates excluded

The reorganization of the state list of the Greens for the federal election is under completely new auspices. The party’s federal arbitration court has excluded the delegates from the Saarlouis local association from the party congress. The reason for this are irregularities in the election of delegates.

Ulrich’s local association is missing

As a result, around a third of the delegates are missing, and thus the power base of ex-country chief Hubert Ulrich, who is the chairman of the local association. Several members of the Saarlouis local association took action against the election of delegates. After they failed before the regional arbitration tribunal, the federal arbitration tribunal has now decided differently. A written justification is still pending.

Chaos among the Greens before the state party conference

Recommendation of the regional arbitration court

Almost at the same time, the state board canceled the party convention for the election of the new board. The background is a recommendation by the regional arbitration court to postpone the election in order to prevent possible challenges. Afterwards it became known that Barbara Meyer-Gluche was stepping down as state chairwoman with immediate effect.

The previous political director Patrick Ginsbach and the deputy state chairman Jérôme Lange had also announced their withdrawal. However, the party congress for the new election of the state list for the federal election on Saturday should take place as planned. According to SR information, however, the list election is also on the brink.

On Thursday afternoon, Jeanne Dillschneider, the spokeswoman for the Green Youth in Saarland, announced that she would not run for election at the party convention for the new state list for the federal election on Saturday.

On Tuesday the State Arbitration Court of Rhineland-Palatinate prohibited the state board from submitting the list with Ulrich in first place.

The SR radio news from 07/15/2021 also reported on this topic.
