Metro line B will not be repaired for the start of the school year

Did you like the end of 2023 on the Star network? Then you will love it at the beginning of 2024. Already let go by its B line for a month in November and December, the Keolis Rennes company must once again face a breakdown of its second baby. Since January 3 and “a major incident” that occurred at 7:20 a.m. on a train, line B has been stopped, to the great dismay of its regulars, who had only just found it. When will it be repaired? We ignore it for the moment. But Keolis is already warning that it will not be restored for the start of the school year.

A relay bus line set up

After the incident which occurred between the Saint-Jacques-Gaîté station and La Courrouze, the train was stopped to be examined by the services of Keolis and Siemens Mobility. Returned to the workshop garage, the faulty train is still the subject of investigations which will last several days. “They are necessary to be able to understand the nature of the incident and determine when the conditions will be met to resume commercial operations,” warns Keolis in a press release.

To compensate for the shutdown of the new metro, the operator has put in place a relay bus line, which serves the stations of line B over the entire operating time of the metro, with a departure every twelve minutes during the day . Other planned adjustments will be communicated this Friday on the Star website.

On November 18, a fire broke out in a technical room of the workshop garage. A short circuit generated after emergency braking of one of the trains is believed to be the cause of the incident, which caused the service to be stopped for a month. The train in question had been isolated, but the metro was able to resume normally on December 22.
