Metro line B shut down “for several days” after electrical substation fire

The week promises to be a hassle to say the least in transport in Rennes. Stopped since Saturday evening following a fire which broke out a little before 7 p.m. on an electrical supply station in the workshop garage, metro line B will not resume service this Monday. In a press release published this Sunday afternoon, Keolis announced that traffic will be interrupted “for several days. »

Although the fire was quickly brought under control, “the material damage caused was significant”, specifies the operator. “Communication faults between certain electrical equipment and the centralized command post were also noted as well as emergency braking on a train,” continues Keolis, who is currently unaware of “the causes of the fire” and “if these events are linked. »

Relay buses put into service

To deal with this huge breakdown on line B of the Rennes metro, the relay bus offer will be reinforced from this Monday morning between the Saint-Jacques-Gaîté and Cesson-ViaSilva stations with buses which will run every five minutes and 25 additional vehicles which will be put into service.

As a result of this redeployment, lines 32, 34, 10, 12, 159ex and the city center shuttle will be eliminated. “We invite users who can to do so to favor soft modes to get around Rennes in the days to come,” warns Keolis, who will mobilize around fifty agents on the ground from Monday morning to inform and guide users.
