Météo-France keeps the department on red flood alert

On the rising water front, the situation is still difficult this Monday in Indre-et-Loire. The department remains in red alert for the risk of flooding, while Gironde, Dordogne, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Côte-d’Or and Saône-et-Loire are classified in orange alert for the same risk, according to the latest Météo-France bulletin.

The departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence are on orange alert for avalanche risk.

Snow in the Alps and the Jura

At the start of the day, from the Grand-Est to the north of PACA, as well as in Corsica, the weather will still be overcast and rainy, before a lull at the end of the morning. It will snow in the Alps from 1,400 to 1,500 m and on the Jura from 1,100 to 1,300 m. In the rest of the country the morning will see beautiful sunny periods, except from Brittany to the north of New Aquitaine where sometimes stormy showers will occur.

In the afternoon, sometimes stormy showers will reach most of the country. But from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean rim, the clearings will hold out a little longer before a few showers or storms at the end of the afternoon. The rain-snow limit will be between 1,300 to 1,500 m on most mountain ranges. The wind will orient west to southwest, it will be quite strong in Corsica, near the Ocean and sometimes in showers, with possible gusts of 70 to 80 km/h.

In terms of temperatures, the minimums will range from 3 to 8 degrees in general, up to 10 to 12 degrees near the Mediterranean. In the afternoon, it will be 12 to 16 degrees in the northern half and the Massif Central, 14 to 19 degrees in the south, locally 20 near the Mediterranean.
