MetaMask Introduces ETH Selling Feature as Fiat Currency

MetaMask Cryptocurrency Wallet has announced the release of a new feature That allows users to sell Ether as fiat currency, in a Sept. 5 post on X — formerly known as Twitter.

MetaMask says users with a digital wallet connected to the platform’s decentralized portfolio app will be able to sell Ether and send fiat money to bank accounts in the United States, United Kingdom, and parts of Europe, according to MetaMask. It said at launch it will only support ETH, but plans to expand it to “legacy gas tokens on layer 2 networks” in the future.

This new feature comes about five months after MetaMask introduced a function that allows users to buy. MetaMask said at the time that it plans to launch a “buy crypto” service for more than 90 tokens to users in more than 189 countries.

MetaMask previously announced partnerships with MoonPay, Sardine, Transak and Wyre in March.
