Met Gala in New York
The event has a special motto for 2024

The Met Gala goes back in history and aims to celebrate historically significant pieces of clothing next year.
The theme for the Met Gala 2024 has been decided. The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that the upcoming theme of the annual charity event will be “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” According to the fashion magazine “Vogue”.which is organizing the event, the accompanying exhibition will focus on historically significant pieces, some of which are far too fragile to ever be worn again – the “sleeping beauties”.
The Met Gala takes place every year on the first Monday in May in New York City. Next year that will be May 6th, and the exhibition will then run from May 10th to September 2nd. You can then see 250 pieces from the famous museum’s collection, which is said to cover 400 years. Visitors can then admire everything from an English bodice from the 17th century to fashion from the 21st century.
Anna Wintour decides on the guest list
The star-studded event at the beginning of May is also known as the “Fashion Oscars”. Proceeds from the Met Gala support the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The price of a ticket to the event can be up to 50,000 US dollars (about 47,000 euros) per person. Anna Wintour (74), editor-in-chief of US “Vogue”, will probably act as co-host again. She also supposedly always has the final say on the celebrity guest list for the event.
This year’s Met Gala was dedicated to the late fashion czar Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019). Hollywood star Jared Leto (51) appeared in probably the most spectacular look of the evening: On the red carpet he posed as Choupette, the designer’s French Birman cat.
Another eye-catcher at the fashion event was the musician couple Rihanna (35) and A$AP Rocky (35). The pregnant woman appeared in a white ball gown, the upper part of which, including the cape, consisted entirely of rose applications. He wore a checked Gucci skirt over jeans and chose a black suit jacket.
