Soccer star Mesut Özil causes a stir on the net. On Instagram, he shows himself again with the Turkish President Erdoğan.
In 2018, the meeting between Mesut Özil (33) and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (67) caused quite a stir. Now the football star, who is currently under contract with the Fenerbahçe club, met the Turkish president again. On Instagram Özil shared a photo with Erdoğan and the former Turkish soccer player Rıdvan Dilmen (59). The latter also played for Fenerbahçe and is considered a close confidante of Özil. “Football talks with our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Rıdvan Dilmen,” commented Özil on the contribution.
Resignation from DFB-Elf 2018
The footballer came under fire in 2018 shortly before the World Cup in Russia after he and Ilkay Gündogan (31) shared a photo with the controversial Turkish president. Özil then resigned from the German national team after the preliminary round.
