Meryl Streep will be awarded the plaque of honor in Cannes on Tuesday evening. She previously impressed with an elegant outfit.

Meryl Streep (74) gets in the mood for her big evening. On Tuesday evening (May 14th), the actress will receive the Palm of Honor for her life’s work at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival. At the photo session before the award ceremony at the Palais des Festivals, she impressed with her sense of style.

The photos show the 74-year-old in an elegant white pants suit. She paired it with a blue and white striped shirt and silver-colored pumps from Jimmy Choo. A bright, wide-brimmed Panama hat complemented the casual French Riviera look, along with silver earrings and dark Prada sunglasses.

Award is a great honor for Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep was last at the Cannes Film Festival in 1989, when she won Best Actress for her leading role in A Cry in the Dark. Returning to the Côte d’Azur after 35 years means a lot to Streep. “I am immensely honored to receive the news of this prestigious award. Winning a prize at Cannes has always been the highest achievement in the art of filmmaking for the international artistic community,” she said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14th to 25th. In addition to Meryl Streep, numerous other Hollywood stars are also expected at the event, including Kevin Costner (69), Anya Taylor-Joy (28) and George Lucas. The “Star Wars” creator, who celebrates his 80th birthday on May 14th, will also be awarded the Golden Palm of Honor for his life’s work.
