T-90 tanks, artillery, firearms and ammunition: According to Russian information, the Wagner mercenary group has given weapons to the Ministry of Defense on a large scale. The ministry released video of tanks being loaded onto transport vehicles.

DAccording to official information, the Wagner private army of the mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin handed over large quantities of heavy weapons, military equipment and thousands of tons of ammunition to the Russian Ministry of Defense. These include T-90 and T-80 tanks, multiple rocket launchers and numerous artillery systems, ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in Moscow on Wednesday. In addition, Wagner had given up 2,500 tons of ammunition of various types and 20,000 firearms.

The military leadership published on Telegram a video of the heavy weapons being loaded onto transport vehicles. All military equipment will now be serviced and then “dedicated to their purpose,” said Konashenkov. In Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, which had been going on for more than 16 months, the Wagner army had repeatedly conquered areas, including the city of Bakhmut. Last month, however, Prigozhin launched an uprising against Moscow, which he broke off 200 kilometers from the capital.

ARCHIVE - 05/12/2023, ---: HANDOUT - This video still provided by the Prigozhin press service shows Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner mercenary group, at an unknown location during a video statement. The Russian mercenary boss has arrived in Belarus after his armed uprising against Moscow's military leadership.

Prigozhin, who had occupied Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia, ended the rebellion after less than 24 hours on June 24 at the mediation of the Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko. In return, he and his people were assured of impunity. A few days later, Prigozhin and dozens of his Wagner commanders met with President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin did not provide any information on the results. During the uprising, Putin still spoke of “treason”.
