STORY: According to his press service, the head of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was buried on Tuesday. The ceremony was said to have taken place privately in a cemetery on the outskirts of his hometown of St. Petersburg. Cemetery officials said he was buried next to his father. A Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, previously said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was not scheduled to attend the funeral. No information was given as to where the burial would take place. The US and other Western governments suspect the government in Moscow of being behind the August 23 crash of the Prigozhin plane. The Kremlin denies any involvement. Prigozhin fell out of favor with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the latest after the revolt he led on June 23 and 24.
