Mercedes shows luxury electric car EQS with a fresh design

The Swabians make no secret of the fact that expectations of the electric luxury model Mercedes EQS were greater before its market launch two years ago. In particular, many customers of the elegant S-Class find it difficult to switch to the electric sister model, because in terms of design and comfort the EQS does not come close to the high level of the classic S-Class and the electric BMW i7 can also do so, especially in the second The series is much more convincing from the top electric model from Sindelfingen.

Mercedes-Benz is answering the call for more status and comfort

This gap between the Mercedes EQS and S-Class should at least be reduced through the model update. A new front mask with a standing Mercedes star is intended to give the Mercedes EQS more visual presence and status. The Swabians are also responding to criticism from passengers in the second row with an expanded rear package, because here the difference to the particularly luxurious S-Class was particularly large.

The Mercedes EQS is now available with new executive seats, which offer significantly more comfort, for a price of just under 3,900 euros. Among other things, there is a specially slanted footrest on the right rear side, which is placed between the rails of the front seat and significantly increases comfort for the passengers.

The passenger seat can also be folded forward and the backrest in the rear can be adjusted up to 38 degrees. The special equipment also includes seat heating with additional neck and shoulder heating as well as pneumatic adjustment of the seat depth. The large hyperscreen and a heat pump are now standard on the Mercedes EQS.

More range, higher towing capacity

The drive package has also been upgraded, as the battery pack in the underbody has been expanded from 108 to 118 kWh, which increases the range by up to 80 kilometers, depending on the model. The Mercedes EQS 450 4matic, with its standard consumption of 17.0 kWh, now has a standard range of around 800 kilometers.

The rear-wheel drive EQS 450+ even has a distance of 820 kilometers to the next charging stop. At the same time, the trailer load of the all-wheel drive versions increased from 750 to 1,700 kilograms.
