Long Shot – Unusual, but not impossible

How it all goes together, politics and anarchy and ejaculation… A little comedy that is bursting with outrageous optimism, like Frank Capra’s films in the 1930s, the years of the Great Depression. Jonathan Levine’s film is from 2019, when America was looking for a way out of the Trump chaos. It’s about the rebellious but not entirely sure-footed journalist Fred Flarsky and Charlotte Field, US Secretary of State – he fell in love with her at a very young age when she was his babysitter. A great team, Seth Rogen, from the comedy circle of Judd Apatow and James Franco, as Fred, and the cool Charlize Theron as Charlotte: He’s supposed to spice up her speeches and wants her to save the world’s trees with an eco-program , she has the best chance of becoming the first Mrs. President. Then he botches everything with a sticky social media mishap.
Two do the math

PR problems already existed in the 19th century. Wyatt Earp has one in this western by John Sturges from 1957. The US Marshall wants to help his brothers clean up Tombstone – but he has brought with him Doc Holliday, of all people, who is excellent at shooting (and also with a knife). but he drinks all day and sits at the card table, which gets him into trouble with the sheriff in every town he goes to. Burt Lancaster as Wyatt and Kirk Douglas as Doc are a great team in a borderland that longs for peace, law and order: men have to give up their weapons in the saloon, women are not allowed to play cards there, only in the next room. The showdown then becomes a family affair, and love also plays a role: “Keep the flame, let it burn until I get back from the gunfight at the OK Corral.”
Ghostbusters

The ghost hunters are indestructible, Bill Murray and Co. first appeared in this film forty years ago, the latest episode was shown in cinemas this week, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, in which the children and grandchildren continue the work with enthusiasm and bombastic self-made equipment. Afterwards Ghostbusters II (9:50 p.m.), both directed by comedy master Ivan Reitman. Brothers Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix have to compete not against ghosts, but against aliens on their farm in Pennsylvania Signs, 2002, by M. Night Shyamalan (RTL 2, Sunday, 10:15 p.m.). Mysterious crop circles announce their appearance, and with tremendous enthusiasm and a little shudder, people come up with strategies to protect themselves – including aluminum hats so that the nasty, water-shy aliens can’t read their minds.
Parasite – Find the intruder

This film made a big splash at the Oscars in 2020. It was named best foreign language film and also the best film of the year overall, and the Korean Bong Joon-ho received the Oscar for best director. A double family story: The redneck Kim family lives in the poor district, but the four family members are much smarter than the boring middle-class Park family, where they sneak in as various social service providers – tutors, chauffeurs, etc. Minimalist class struggle! The elegant house, which was carefully designed for the film, is a stunner and pure horror – there are destructive forces in its basement. And of course, like Tati or Hitchcock in the sixties, he is also a player himself. Hitchcock’s Psycho is one of Bong’s favorite films, so you should always keep that in mind.
