Towards the end of the evening, René Pollesch is canonized. Florentina Holzinger explains that she has clear evidence that he is actually Jesus, simply because Pollesch was the most generous and kindest person in the world. In his honor, Holzinger’s sailor combo then performs a small scene that is vaguely based on “Jesus Christ Superstar”, of course in Holzinger style, i.e. with the abdomen exposed – if beatification and ascension directly from the stage floor, then so. The Berlin Volksbühne is celebrating its artistic director, the director and author René Pollesch, who died unexpectedly two months ago at the age of just 61, with a big party under the motto: “Celebrate what you love”.
