The new moderator duo at “The Voice of Germany” is fixed. Melissa Khalaj will support Thore Schölermann in season 12.

There are some changes in the twelfth season of the casting show “The Voice of Germany”. Several new coaches will sit on the swivel chairs and there will also be a change in the moderation team. Instead of Lena Gercke (34), Melissa Khalaj (32) will lead through the show alongside Thore Schölermann (37). The responsible broadcasters ProSieben and Sat.1 have now announced this.

It’s not the first time the two have been on stage together. Khalaj and Schölermann have also moderated the offshoot “The Voice Kids” for four seasons. The 32-year-old is happy about her new job: “I love this show and I’m so happy to be leading the show alongside ‘The Voice Kids’ as well as the adults.” Schölermann also raves about his new TV partner. “When moderating, Melissa and I just understand each other blindly,” explains the 37-year-old.

Three “The Voice” coaches are not returning

Only recently did Gercke announce a break from “The Voice of Germany”. “It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to suspend the moderation this year. Anyone who knows me knows that this decision was not easy for me,” explained the model on Instagram. As an entrepreneur and mother, she is more challenged than ever to “let things go”. Gercke took over the job as “The Voice” presenter from season five from Doris Golpashin (41).

But not only the moderators are doing something: Johannes Oerding (40), Nico Santos (29) and Sarah Connor (41) will no longer be there in the twelfth season. Mark Forster (39) remains the only coach from the eleventh season. It is not yet known who will sit next to him.
