Mélenchon defends Nupes while acknowledging difficulties

“It’s been a whole year since we created Nupes, of course it was difficult, of course it’s still so, of course it’s complicated, so what? You have to do the easy things in life? So it would be done quickly!”, Declared Jean-Luc Mélenchon on the sidelines of a “march of all anger” in the second city of France.

He criticized in passing the press and the number of articles to “explain the problems that there would be”. “Everything is rotten in this system, the accessory, the stupid is highlighted, and what counts, which is serious, done with work is relativized”, he regretted, citing for example the adoption Thursday at the Assembly of a bill against the dismantling of EDF carried by the left.

Against the advice of the government, the National Assembly adopted this text on Thursday to “protect EDF from dismemberment”, which also intends to expand the number of companies and communities benefiting from regulated electricity tariffs.

This bill, carried by the left and supported by the right and the National Rally, was validated by 127 votes against 89, and one abstention.

The left alliance Nupes, concluded a year ago between Insoumis, socialists, ecologists and communists, blew out its first candle on Thursday, thwarting the most pessimistic forecasts, even if the stumbling blocks accumulate at the approach of the future electoral deadlines, in particular European ones in a year.
