A real Andy Warhol is for sale at “Bares for Rares”. The lithograph was a gift – and is now worth a mega sum.

That doesn’t happen every day, even with “Bares for Rares”: Anneke Adam from Kötel walks into the studio with a real Andy Warhol under her arm. “My father got it as a gift,” says the 56-year-old on the ZDF junk show about the lithography. The piece bears the original signature of the artist. At that time, Warhol worked for the Burda publishing house, which commissioned the American artist to print. A gift that is more in demand today than ever.

“It’s a very interesting work of art,” says “Bares for Rares” expert Colmar Schulte-Goltz. Shown are several covers of the magazine “Bunte”, which were applied in a multicolored print. Warhol thus created a synthesis of high culture and mass phenomenon. The zeitgeist becomes tangible and tangible. The lithograph was created in 1983 in a quantity of 500. “A really great work.”

“Bares for Rares” expert doubles the desired price

Adam would like 3,000 to 4,000 euros for her Warhol. But expert Schulte-Goltz estimates the value to be much higher. The fact that the signature is an original raises the price. Although the sheet is slightly faded, the expert comes to 7000 to 7500 euros. “That’s unbelievable,” says moderator Horst Lichter happily. “I hope that comes true.” But what are retailers willing to pay?

Wolfgang Pauritsch is immediately enthusiastic about the Warhol. The native Austrian starts with a bid of 1000 euros. But Susanne Steiger and Daniel Meyer are also bidding. The bid quickly doubles. It’s only over for Pauritsch at 4,000 euros from Steiger, but Meyer holds out. Finally, the Warhol goes to Susanne Steiger for 5,000 euros. “Unique, I’m very happy,” says the Aachen native. “Andy Warhol is coming to Bornheim.”

Saleswoman Adam got 1000 euros more than she originally wanted. “It went really well. I’m very happy with it.”
