Sean Penn is back in America and gives an interview to CNN about his stay in Ukraine. Above all, he finds words of praise for the Ukrainian President Zelenskyj.

A few days ago, Sean Penn managed to leave the Ukraine. The actor was shooting a documentary in the middle of the war zone and, according to reports, had to leave his car when leaving the country and flee on foot across the Ukrainian border to Poland. Back in the USA, he is now giving an interview to CNN with his on-site impressions of the war.

Visibly touched and impressed, the Hollywood actor tells reporter Anderson Cooper about his meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy: “I met Zelenskyy one day before and one day after the Russian attack on the Ukrainian people. I don’t know if the President did that white, but he was born to take office. I knew I was in the presence of someone who would have a huge impact on so many Ukrainians. This was new to me in the modern world, a person of so much courage , dignity and love. I was very impressed with him.” The Ukrainian President was a comedian and actor in the past. He even took part in the Ukrainian edition of “Let’s Dance” and won the show before turning to politics.

Sean Penn: “Zelenskyj is a great historical figure”

The Oscar winner was inspired by the courage of Ukraine’s president and called him a “great historical figure”. He himself is absolutely no war expert, even if he is now dedicating himself to a documentary film about the war in Ukraine. “I don’t know if the desired no-fly zone over Ukraine could trigger a nuclear war, but I do know one thing: we must do everything we can to help Ukraine and President Zelenskyy,” Penn said.

Leaving the Ukraine was not easy for the 61-year-old mentally either. He reports on very long queues of cars and shocking observations. To get it made clear again that only children and women are currently allowed to leave the country, he says: “They hardly had any luggage with them, I think they assume they will be back home soon. Their men had to go to the Stay in Ukraine, they have to fight. Some men brought their wives and children to the border, but then they had to turn back, back to the war”.
