Mediterranean episode: the Alpes-Maritimes placed on yellow alert from Friday 3 p.m. to Saturday morning

Heavy rainfall is expected across the entire department this Friday February 9. This is the beginning of the famous “Mediterranean episode”.

Météo France has also placed the Alpes-Maritimes on yellow alert for rain and floods on the coast and avalanche on the reliefs.

Vigilance will come into force this Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and will be maintained until the next morning. You will therefore need to be careful when traveling in the afternoon and evening.

Temperature-wise, things are getting slightly cooler. It will be 14 degrees on average on the coast and 12 in the hinterland. But several municipalities will not exceed 10 degrees, such as in Tende where no more than 7 degrees are expected in the afternoon. It will be 9 in Roquebillière, 6 in Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, or even 6 degrees in Saint-Auban.

The wind will be relatively calm, no more than 15 km/h on average, except in Tende, where a few gusts of up to 40 km/h will blow during the day.
