The former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is apparently stepping down from all political offices. Several media report this unanimously.

Former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is stepping down from his political offices, according to information from the Austrian news agency APA. Previously, the Austrian “Kronen Zeitung” as well as the “Image” reported. According to the Austrian news portal “Today” Kurz wants to announce his decision at a press conference on Thursday at 11.30 a.m. After the advertisement affair, Kurz resigned as Chancellor and since then has been the club and party chairman of the conservative ÖVP.

According to the “Kronen Zeitung”, the birth of his son was decisive for this step. Interior Minister Karl Nehammer is apparently supposed to take over the post of ÖVP boss.

The economic and corruption prosecutor’s office is investigating the 35-year-old Kurz on suspicion of false testimony in the Ibiza investigative committee and on suspicion of infidelity. Kurz and his political colleagues are said to have promoted his rise to the top of the government with the help of taxpayers’ money, among other things.
