Solar systems can be installed not only on private roofs, but also on the balcony. Federal Minister of Economics Habeck wants to further promote this – according to the “Bild-Zeitung” there is now a draft law on this.

According to a media report, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck wants to promote the expansion of solar energy in Germany with a “Solar Package I” and promote it both on roofs and open spaces. The “Bild” newspaper refers to the draft of the law for the expansion of solar power generation, which is to be passed by the cabinet before the summer break.

Accordingly, every second solar panel that will be built in the next few years will be installed on roofs. The other half is planned for open space systems. In particular, private individuals should be more involved in the energy transition, writes the “Bild”.

Balcony solar systems should less bureaucratic become

According to the draft, the regulations for the construction of so-called balcony power plants, solar panels for the home, should be simplified and less bureaucratic. The Federal Ministry of Justice is also working on a change in the law that will make it easier for tenants and apartment owners to install the so-called plug-in solar devices.

In particular, in the future, only notification to the Federal Network Agency will be required when installing a balcony solar system. According to the report, the time-consuming notification to the network operator should be omitted. In addition, regulations for extensions on the roof will also be standardized and simplified.

With a plug-in solar device, a solar panel generates electricity from sunlight, which an inverter converts into “household electricity”. This is connected to the electrical circuit in the apartment. The electricity from the solar device then flows to the electrical devices. In return, less electricity is drawn from the grid, as the consumer advice center NRW explains.

The newspaper also quotes from the draft that outdoor buildings that have already been erected or that are specifically planned should be approved for the payment of solar roof systems. This means that electricity generated by means of solar panels can also be sold by owners whose buildings are neither within the scope of a development plan nor within a built-up district.
