McDonald’s wins the naming of the L1 for €30 million per year

Meeting this Thursday morning, the LFP board of directors chose McDonald’s, the famous American fast food chain, to add its name to that of Ligue 1 and replace Uber Eats from next season. As was announced to members of the professional football “government”, the contract is a very sharp increase, since McDonald’s, according to our information, will pay a total of 90 million euros to the LFP over three years, or 30 million euros annually.

Almost twice as much as Uber Eats

Compared to the previous “deal”, the amounts are almost doubled, because Uber Eats now pays 16 million euros per year to associate its brand with Ligue 1. This increase is obviously good news for the LFP, which has already signed a record contract of 155 million euros over five years (€31 million annually) with the sports marketing company Infront for the live betting rights for the L1, the L2 and the Champions Trophy across the entire planet (excluding France).

But a big file remains in progress, that of the broadcasting rights of the L1 for the period 2024-2029, which has not delivered its verdict. After an unsuccessful call for tenders, the LFP is negotiating over-the-counter with the main market players and still hopes to obtain rights (domestic and international) close to 900 million euros annually.
