Causa Mbappe: Ligue 1 boss speaks of “disrespectful attacks”

The criticism of Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi when they left Spain for Paris was “unfounded”. Labrune also pointed out that Real Madrid “had two of the highest-paid players in the world on the bench” and that Barcelona had reportedly accumulated “a debt of €1.5 billion”. With the real professionals, Labrune probably alluded to Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard.

“Their disrespectful attacks,” Labrune continued, “appear now to be aimed at Kylian Mbappe, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the world and who simply chose not to get into their league of his own accord, despite being had a similar offer.”

Mbappe surprisingly announced last week that he would extend his expiring contract with PSG, thereby rejecting Real Madrid. Afterwards, there was heavy criticism, especially from Spain.
