The mayor EELV of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic announced on Saturday the constitution of a “monitoring and vigilance committee” with political, economic and sporting actors to ensure that the Girondins are not sold “to the highest bidder” and “weigh on the choice ”of the buyer.
“It is our duty as political, economic and sporting figures to lay down essential principles and values that we do not want to see sold off on the occasion of the sale of the Ligue 1 club”, recently released by its owner, the fund King Street investment fund, Pierre Hurmic told reporters.

“We do not choose the buyer, there is a procedure in progress (with a representative ad hoc appointed by the commercial court at the request of club president Frédéric Longuépée) but we want to influence the choice, ”he added.
This buyer must not be “an adventurer” or “an investment fund” which seizes the “heritage” represented by the Girondins, who are celebrating their 140th birthday and facing Rennes on Sunday in an important match for their maintenance in L1 .
The committee wishes in particular that the future buyer carries “investments far from a speculative vision”, relies on “former players who have embodied the history of the Girondins” and develops “a territorial culture also irrigating women’s football and amateur ”.
Cover projects, including “eccentric”
“There are plenty of recovery projects, the Girondins interest a lot of people,” he said. About ten people called me but there are some crazy projects inside and I also tell them that I am not the seller. “
Next to the mayor in the courtyard of the town hall, the emblematic former captain of the Girondins Alain Giresse said: “35 years ago to the day I was on this balcony waving the Coupe de France, it is the history of the club ”, adding:“ We do not want to be at the mercy of financiers who have fun ”and“ leave ruins ”.
The committee was announced at the end of a town hall meeting which was also attended – on site or by videoconference – François Grenet, former emblematic player, Jean-Didier Lange, a former president of the Girondins, as well as the presidents from the metropolis Alain Anziani, from the CCI Philippe Séguin, from the Football League of Nouvelle-Aquitaine Saïd Ennjimi and from the Regional Olympic and Sports Committee Philippe Saïd.
