May contain pathogens: Companies are recalling dairy products

Several German companies are recalling certain dairy products because of possible pathogens. The Weihenstephan dairy is among those affected. The company announced on Thursday in Freising that the product “Weihenstephan Fresh Milk 1.5% Fat” in the one-liter and half-liter packs was affected. The liter packs are products with a best before date of October 6th and 8th, while the 0.5 liter packs have a best before date of October 7th.

According to the dairy, the milk can cause infections. In vulnerable groups such as infants, small children, pregnant women, seniors and people with weakened immune systems, the illnesses could potentially become serious.

Buyers should bring the milk cartons back to the stores, where they will be exchanged even without a receipt. Weihenstephan cites a technical problem as the cause of the milk contamination. This has now been resolved.

Product recall: Sachsenmilch warns against fresh milk

Also the Saxony milk Leppersdorf GmbH recalled fresh milk with 1.5 percent fat in one-liter packaging due to a possible risk of infection. The company announced on Thursday that its own investigations had identified microbiological deviations that could trigger infections. The cause was a technical problem that has now been resolved. Only fresh milk with a best-before date of October 8th is affected.
