The AfD politician Maximilian Krah is currently making headlines twice: firstly because of his employee who is said to have spied for China. And Krah himself is said to have benefited financially from two states.

The Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office has preliminary investigations against the AfD politician Maximilian Krah initiated in connection with Chinese and Russian payments. Based on the current public reporting against the MEP, a preliminary investigation began on April 18, 2024 in connection with alleged Russian payments for his work as a member of parliament, a spokesman in Dresden said on Wednesday upon request. “In addition, the Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting a second preliminary investigation against the Member of the European Parliament Dr. Maximilian Krah in connection with alleged Chinese payments for his work as a member of parliament,” he added. The “Bild” newspaper also reports on it.

The spokesman emphasized that the preliminary investigations currently only serve to check whether there is an initial suspicion of criminal behavior involving bribery of members of parliament. He also added that there was no connection with the Federal Prosecutor’s Office’s proceedings against the German national Jian G., who is an employee of Krah, for alleged secret service agent activity. Krah announced on Wednesday after a conversation with the AfD leadership that he wanted to remain his party’s top candidate for the European elections.
