Footballer Max Kruse claims to only work four hours a day. Instead of deriding him as a horrendous part-time worker, he should be applauded.
Of course, now comes the envy debate. Max Kruse only said a small, honest sentence about his work-life balance: “My daily working hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.,” said the Wolfsburg footballer on the online portal Twitter. But instead of Kruse, loud picture 3.8 million euros annual salary, now to be mocked as a horrendous part-time worker, one should applaud him.
Finally someone who says how it is: The working day of many working people is bloated with nonsense appointments. Jour fixe here, kick-off meeting there. The actual work would be done in two or three hours, but because nobody wants to be seen as lazy, a few more working groups are set up to simulate activity. In football, too, Kruse sees it, the core business is quickly over. Jersey on, make two or three huts, shower, done. Sure, Kruse’s employer emphasizes that that’s not all. Additional training in the afternoon, physio, sponsors, in Kruse’s case also the constant sports car trips from Wolfsburg to Berlin.
But the 34-year-old easily puts it away. Doesn’t say he works oh so much. A good horse only jumps as high as it has to, they say. And that’s why 34 lines are completely sufficient for this column today. In this sense: in the afternoon at one, everyone does their own thing.
