When Max Eberl was called up to the Free State of Bavaria’s youth team as a very young right-back from FC Bayern, he met a defensive player from FC Augsburg, Thomas Tuchel. When Eberl was later looking for a successor to coach Lucien Favre as the already established manager of the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, he received a rejection from his preferred candidate Thomas Tuchel, who then started at Borussia Dortmund.
