Since 2017, artistic director Matthias Schulz has determined the artistic direction at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden. As a pianist and economist, he was once closely associated with the Salzburg Festival and then headed the Mozarteum Foundation. With the planning required years in advance, his influence at the Lindenoper will still be felt in the coming season, when he will have already moved to the Zurich Opera House, where he will start in 2025.
