Matthias Opdenhövel: Broadcaster postpones “Schlag den Star” comeback

Matthias Opdenhövel (53) will celebrate his “Schlag den Star” return one day later. ProSieben has that at X communicated. The broadcaster explains the program change: “The next edition of ‘Schlag den Star’ comes on Sunday, June 2nd. We are postponing the live show by one day because the CL final is on Saturday, June 1st. And “German participation is not unlikely. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for both FC Bayern and BVB in the semi-finals.”

In the two semi-final first legs of the Champions League, FC Bayern Munich has to face Real Madrid on the way to the final at Wembley this Tuesday (April 30) and Borussia Dortmund have to face Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. A German-German final on June 1st would therefore be possible.

After 13 years back in the “old living room”

At the beginning of April, ProSieben announced that Matthias Opdenhövel would return to the “Schlag den …” cosmos. “It is an honor and a homecoming at the same time,” said the moderator in a statement. “I can’t wait to be back in my old living room after 13 years and I’m looking forward to all the celebrity pairings and crazy games,” he was quoted as saying.

Opdenhövel hosted “Schlag den Raab” from 2006 to 2011 and “Schlag den Star” in 2010. He was followed by Steven Gätjen (51) from 2011 to 2013, and Elton had hosted the popular show since 2016. In an Instagram post, the latter was extremely disappointed with his departure from the show and asserted that he had not given up “this wonderful show voluntarily”.
