The American-Canadian actor Matthew Perry is dead. This is confirmed by the broadcaster NBC, for which he worked for a long time. Previously reported Los Angeles Times, that Perry was found lifeless in his home in Los Angeles. He was 54 years old.
Perry is best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the sitcom Friends known. He last appeared in 2021 in a newly released special episode of the series, which was canceled in 2005.
At X the station NBC wrote: “With his pitch-perfect comedic timing and wry wit, he brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world. His legacy will live on for countless generations.” Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, also commented. “Thanks for all the laughter, Matthew. You were loved – and we will miss you,” he wrote on X. Perry and Trudeau attended the same school in Ottawa.
Perry made it public a few years ago that he suffered from alcohol and drug addiction. In his memoirs, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” he wrote, “I thought being famous would fill the big hole that kept growing inside me.”
