“Friends” star Matthew Perry will release his memoir in November. In it, he won’t sugarcoat “difficult times” on the set.

“Friends” star Matthew Perry (52) will publish his memoirs in November. In the 256-page book, titled “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” the 52-year-old doesn’t mince his words and tells “his side of the story,” as Us Weekly reports.

“He wants to share his experiences – good or bad,” the magazine quoted a source as saying. He wanted to “help others and correct some things that have either not been told, taken out of context or completely twisted in the wrong direction and need full clarification”.

Difficult times on the “Friends” set and addiction problems

So the actor doesn’t want to sugarcoat “more difficult times” with the cast of “Friends”. Filming on the “Friends” set wasn’t always a “bed of roses” for Perry. “He will also talk about how the reunion went, the good and the bad.”

His problems with drug and alcohol addiction will also be discussed in the book, the source reveals. As early as 2001, the actor first admitted to having problems with alcohol and medication. After an injury in 1997, he became addicted to an opioid and later entered rehab. In 2000, he was hospitalized with pancreatitis due to his alcohol consumption. In 2001, Perry announced that he was sober. Ten years later, however, he went back to rehab.

After the reunion with his “Friends” co-stars Jennifer Aniston (53), Courteney Cox (57), Lisa Kudrow (58), Matt LeBlanc (54) and David Schwimmer (55) in May 2021, many fans were concerned again Perry’s health.
