Materazzi on Arnautovic’s attack of arrogance: “Had to throw him out of the cabin”

Marko Arnautovic is known for his pithy sayings. As a youngster at Inter, he dared to make a very special comparison.
Ex-Bundesliga professional Marko Arnautovic irritated his teammates with his big mouth during his engagement at Inter Milan. The then 20-year-old came to the Nerazzurri from Twente Enschede in 2009 and promptly announced that it would not take him long to replace star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had migrated to Barcelona.
Ex-Inter defender Marco Materazzi said at the Festival dello Sport in Trento: “He stepped in front of us and said in all seriousness that in six months he would be better than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.” The 2006 world champion continued: “I had to throw him out of the cabin and advised him to come down a bit in front of the door.”
Marko Arnautovic is now storming for FC Bologna
Nothing came of the Ibra successor at Arnautovic. He did not prevail in Milan and moved to Werder Bremen after just one year. There, too, the Austrian rarely fulfilled the high expectations and after three years at the Weser, stations at Stoke City, West Ham United and Shanghai SIPG followed. The 32-year-old has been chasing goals for FC Bologna since this season.
The career of his ex-colleague impressed Materazzi: “He has had a great career and has shown that he can assert himself in the Premier League. He is now doing very well in Bologna too.”
