Mask affair: Strauss daughter Hohlmeier before investigative committee Regional

Munich – What did Strauss daughter Monika Hohlmeier (59, CSU) know about her friend Andrea Tandler’s mask business?

In March 2020, Tandler brokered mask deals for the Swiss company “Emix”. Recipients: Federal Government, Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia. Value: 300 million euros. Tandler received a commission of 48 million euros.

In the Bavarian state parliament, Hohlmeier had to go before the investigative committee on Monday. “I wanted to help,” she asserted. She put Tandler in contact with the then Bavarian Health Minister Melanie Huml (46, CSU) and informed Health Minister Jens Spahn (41, CDU).

On February 28, Tandler contacted her via text message. On March 3, Hohlmeier wrote to Melanie Huml, also via SMS. The deal went through. The masks were delivered to the central warehouse in Garching.

Hohlmeier assured the committee: “I did not receive any commission.”

Strange: Tandler only offered 1 million masks from “leftover stocks”. Then she suddenly had 5 million available.

Bavaria’s SPD leader Florian von Brunn (52): “She takes care of corruption in the European Parliament and never questions the mask deals. I wonder.”

Florian Siekmann (27, Greens): “Hohlmeier never made it transparent that she was mediating for a friend.”

Verena Mayer (46) was also invited on Monday. She is the sister of ex-Secretary General Stephan Mayer (48, CSU). She too had asked Tandler to mediate – also on February 28, 2020.

Mayer passed the message on to her brother, who was then State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior. He passed the offer on to the federal government’s task force.

Clumsy: Verena Mayer asked Tandler for a commission. Embarrassed, she explained yesterday: “I didn’t mean it that seriously.” She didn’t get any.
