The first cell phone calls came early in the morning while she was still in the shower. At 7.30 a.m., Tanja Decker was already sitting at her desk in the Bavarian Ministry of Health while she was fighting the pandemic. Making calls, answering emails, working out plans, meetings. That lasted until late in the evening, and then there were still a lot of emails to deal with, up to 80 of them. The Ministerialrätin actually only drove home to sleep. Among other things, her job was to get masks and other protective clothing for old people’s and nursing homes, doctor’s offices and clinics.
