For her first appearance as queen, Mary of Denmark appeared in an elegant outfit. The look still surprised with a blue detail.

At her first public appearance as queen, Mary looked from Denmark (52) looks chic as usual. At a ceremony in Copenhagen, she congratulated the winners of the country’s most prestigious research award.

In keeping with the occasion, the wife of King Frederik X (55) wore a navy blue trouser suit consisting of a double-breasted jacket and matching trousers from the British brand The Fold. The mother of four combined pale pink snakeskin-look pumps from Italian designer Gianvito Rossi and a navy blue leather clutch from Danish brand Quidam Bags. She had her long, auburn hair styled in loose curls and wore a pair of pearl earrings that matched her necklace.

Unexpected blue detail

As she presented the certificates to the winners of the EliteForsk Prize, which honors the achievements of five internationally renowned researchers up to 45 years old, another unusual detail about her look became apparent: while Mary kept her makeup simple , she added an accent with a striking blue nail polish.

The EliteForsk Prize is awarded by the Danish Council for Independent Research, part of the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and is endowed with 1.2 million Danish kroner (the equivalent of around 160,930 euros).

Mary has been queen for six weeks

Mary, who worked as an advertising executive in her native Australia before falling in love with then-Crown Prince Frederik, became Queen of Denmark just six weeks ago. On January 14th, the long-serving Queen Margrethe II (83) abdicated and Frederik followed her on the throne.

Earlier this month, the new royal couple announced their first trip together in the new role. This summer they will visit Sweden, Norway, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The couple will undertake the trip on the royal yacht Dannebrog. Mary and Frederik, who have been married for almost 20 years and have four children together, will first visit Sweden at the beginning of May. The following week they will make an official state visit to Norway. In June and July we go to the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
