The wait is over – there is new information about the fourth “Captain America” film adaptation. Anthony Mackie has already been confirmed as the main actor – now it has become known who will direct.

Marvel Studios has found a director for the fourth “Captain America” film adaptation.

The Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah (39, “The Cloverfield Paradox”, “Luce”) is to direct “Captain America 4”, as the US industry journals “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” reported on Friday. Last year it became known that US actor Anthony Mackie (43, “Deadly Command – The Hurt Locker”) will play the leading role.

Mackie has appeared several times as Marvel superhero Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, most recently in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Mackie is known from the “Avengers” series as an ally of Captain America aka Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who is now to take over his legacy. In “Avengers: Endgame”, the aged Rogers offered to give his friend Sam the Captain America shield. This scenario was also picked up by the Marvel miniseries The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, starring Mackie (The Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier).

The series by author Malcolm Spellman started on Disney+ in March 2021. Spellman is now also on board as an author for the planned cinema version. Nothing was initially known about a start of shooting.
