Martin Walser gives priority to Marbach – Kultur

On September 17, 2013, the writer Martin Walser left his diary lying on the ground when he got off the train from Innsbruck to Friedrichshafen. The public quickly found out about it, because in the hope that a finder would get in touch, Walser reported his loss to the DPA news agency. The Rowohlt publishing house even promised a finder’s fee of 3000 euros. Since no dpa message to the contrary ever appeared, it can be assumed that the red linen-bound notebook, which contained no name and no address, was therefore not present when Martin Walser handed over his legacy to the German Literature Archive in Marbach at a ceremony at the weekend . The now 95-year-old writer was present at the event as a guest of honor in a wheelchair.
