Marseille partially doubles its parking prices in the face of pollution

The air quality has deteriorated in Marseille, while temperatures easily exceed 30 degrees and the mistral fell at the end of last week. Conditions conducive to an episode of ozone air pollution, such as the Bouches-du-Rhône already experienced last June.

In an attempt to reduce car use in the city, parking rates are doubled for visitors only. Those who usually benefit from the resident rate are granted free access, provided they park in their neighborhood. Short-term self-service bicycle subscription tickets are made free.

At the same time, the Métropole and the RTM have announced free parking lots located at the ends of public transport lines. To complete this arrangement, “one trip” bus and metro tickets are valid for the whole day.
