Marseille has the ball but struggles to create chances

Harit stumbles on Diaw

The Moroccan approaches the surface and shifts Veretout. The former Roman finds him but Harit’s shot is repelled by Diaw’s foot.

Aubameyang’s special

Harit takes his time to send a good cross to the far post. Aubameyang flies away and slaps a backhand that goes over the top. He had already made such a move a few weeks ago against Ajax.

Caufriez saves his team

Lodi hits the midfield and launches Aubameyang deep. The latter wants to find a partner behind but Caufriez’s foot prevents the ball from reaching Harit’s feet.

Mbemba takes the lead

The Olympian defender rises highest in the Clermont area but his smashed header does not catch the target.

What a Marseille counter!

Jordan Veretout alerts Iliman Ndiaye in depth. The Senegalese controls and launches Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in depth but the latter cannot ideally follow up with the return of the Clermont rearguard.

Rashani hit in the shoulder

After a duel with Murillo, the Clermont winger seemed hit in the shoulder. Jim Allevinah is warming up just in case.

A calm first quarter of an hour

This start to the match is rather calm in terms of rhythm. The Marseillais have the ball but are not in any particular hurry. Clermont is more wait-and-see.

Diaw imposes himself in his area

Jordan Veretout takes an eccentric free kick but it is deflected by the wall. The ball flies to the far post towards Murillo who crosses directly into the hands of Diaw.

Caufriez is late

The Clermont defender marks Aubameyang very closely and commits a foul on the OM center forward who does not hesitate to go low to participate in the game.

Diaw takes risks

The Clermont goalkeeper puts himself in danger in front of Aubameyang. Mory Diaw is doing well and manages to relieve his defense.

Leg grows back

The first opportunity of this meeting is for the visitors. Rashani overflows in his left and center lane but Samuel Gigot clears.

A young OM supporter joins Payet live

While answering Prime Video’s questions live at pitchside, Dimitri Payet was joined by a young OM fan. The 36-year-old midfielder greeted the boy with a smile. And the little Olympian supporter even found himself answering questions from journalists…

Let’s go !

After the fictitious kick-off given by former Olympian glory Lucho Gonzalez, the Phocaeans kick off this penultimate match of the 16th day of Ligue 1.

Lucho Gonzalez will kick off, Payet in Santa mode

Dimitri Payet took advantage of his vacation to come to the Vélodrome to watch the match against Clermont in Ligue 1. As is tradition when he scored before Christmas, the Vasco da Gama attacking midfielder wears a red and white cap.

Another former OM, the Argentinian Lucho Gonzalez, will kick off.

Kick-off at 5:05 p.m.

This OM-Clermont will start in ten minutes from now on. The Phocaeans can completely return to the race for Europe while the Auvergne could leave the red zone.

OM strong at home

If the Phocaeans do not have a dream start to the season, Gennaro Gattuso’s men can extend an impressive series of six home matches without conceding a single goal.

This is the club’s best run since 1998 and it could continue at a time when the Olympians host the worst attack in Ligue 1 with nine goals scored in 15 games.

Veretout’s 150th

The OM midfielder will experience his 150th in the French elite this afternoon during this match on the 16th day of Ligue 1.

The composition of Clermont

Gennaro Gattuso’s appeal to Marseille supporters

The OM coach launched an appeal to Marseille supporters from the start of his speech at a press conference on Saturday.

“The match may seem easy on paper, but it is not, no match is easy. We will need the whole stadium to push the team. We have spent a lot of energy, and the public can tell us give a big helping hand, from the 1st to the 90th minute. I am sure that they will be there tomorrow and help us. I think that when we play with 62-65 thousand people pushing behind the team, in a such an atmosphere, it is also thanks to them that we are able to produce this type of performance. I think they have a lot to do with it.”
